In Montana only residents of at least six months, are eligible to receive their concealed handgun permit.
The first step is to take a complete a firearms safety or training course like the ones we teach. Any of the following will satisfy the requirement:
- A class taught by a certified instructor of a National Firearms Training Group
- Montana State Hunters Education Course
- Montana State Approved Course
After the class is complete, you will need to apply at your local county sheriff’s office. Each county has it’s own application and can determine what documentation it will require in order to apply.
At the county sheriff’s office the applicant will fill out the application and submit to a background check. Generally applications are approved or denied in only a few weeks.
